3 Summer Activities to Enjoy in La Plagne

For anyone considering France this summer, La Plagne is a must-see for all holiday makers. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker looking for your next wild adventure, or if you’re hoping for a quieter escape to relax your body and mind, look no further than this beautiful area of France. We’ve put together three things to try this summer in La Plagne – so whatever your style, you can be sure to love your holiday!

Skiing

Since La Plagne is a ski area, it’s natural that our first item here is skiing. Not only will you find hundreds of kilometres of runs to explore, but you’ll get to astonishing heights, with many runs reaching over 2000m. Whether you’re an expert on the skis or a total beginner, there is a variety of courses for you to choose from, so you can be sure to go at your own pace.

If you’ve never been skiing before and you’re looking to try something new, we couldn’t recommend it more, and La Plagne is the perfect place! Make sure you pack the essentials and stay prepared – it’s always worth checking the time of year, as well as what weather you’ll be expecting, to make sure you’ll be ready for the adventure! You can find the la plagne snow forecast at Piste Pro, where there is detailed information about the weather at different altitudes. Not only will Piste Pro give you a detailed summary of the weather up to two weeks in advance, but you can also find maps, detailed information on the resort, and more. It’s essential for any traveller to La Plagne!

Hiking

Hiking is an often-underrated activity for travellers, but to miss out on hiking through La Plagne would be a huge mistake. There’s a vast array of beauty to explore in the mountains; whether you’re looking to delve into a lush, green forest, or you’re hoping to follow the path of a stream through a field of wildflowers, you’ll find yourself spoilt by the choice of hikes.

When hiking, it’s important to make sure you look after two things: the ecosystem, and yourself. Make sure to stay on the tracks to avoid damaging important wildlife, as well as to avoid putting yourself in a dangerous situation. Also remember that, during the summer, the weather is likely to be hot, so protect yourself with a hat, sunglasses, and most importantly, sun cream. Sun cream is essential in keeping you and your skin protected, so don’t leave it behind!

White Water Sports

La Plagne is infamous for its gorgeous mountain views, but did you know that it also has a river running through? You can find the Isère River in the valley, rushing from the snowmelt of the hillsides. The best part about white water sports is that they are fit for people of any age and ability. If you’re looking for something more relaxed, some gentle canoeing or kayaking can be a great way to get out on the water and enjoy the feel of the river underneath you.

If you’re looking for more adventure, however, you can have a go at white water rafting, or even hydrospeeding. Hydrospeeding involves using only flippers and a float to swim down the river, flowing with the rushing current of the river. It’s great for adrenaline junkies, and an amazing experience to share with friends and family or enjoy by yourself! More information on hydrospeeding can be found here.

These are our three favourite activities for anyone visiting La Plagne this summer. Whether you’re looking for excitement or relaxation, you’re sure to have the time of your life!
