We visited Webbs Enchanted Gardens 2025 on opening night at 5pm, which turned out to be the perfect time. It was already dark so the lights looked incredible, but it was early enough that it never felt crowded. I went with my parents, Arlo and his cousin who are eight and nine, and my sister, so we had three generations with us. Every one of us had a wonderful experience.

Arriving at Webbs Wychbold
If you know Webbs Garden Centre, you will know they go all in for Christmas. Before you even reach the trail, the approach sets the mood. The trees along the main road are covered in golden lights, and when you pull into the car park you can see the glow of the gardens immediately. There is a small archway that marks the start of the Enchanted Gardens and it shines softly in the dark. From a distance I could see rainbow lighting above the trees on the skyline and it already felt like I was about to step into something special.

Checking in was quick and simple. The staff were genuinely warm and happy and it created such a welcoming atmosphere. Even though it was cold and dark, they seemed excited for every visitor stepping through the gates, I always get this vibe and I love how excited they are to see people’s reactions.
Walking Into the Story

The moment we entered the trail, everything changed. It is not just a light trail. It is sound, music, movement and atmosphere all happening at once. If you love The Wizard of Oz, you pick up on it immediately. The opening of the trail feels like the farmyard scene from the beginning of the film. You hear the wind and the music and it almost feels like the story is already starting around you. You don’t have to be a fan of the story to enjoy the experience, but if you are there are so many little details which showcase just how much planning and effort goes in to this event.

Everywhere you look there is something to take in. Above you, beside you, on the ground. It is incredibly immersive and it pulls you out of the real world straight away. It’s like walking through the gardens activates Christmas for me, all the magic and festive feels come to life as you’re walking through the grounds and it’s impossible not to feel it.
Moments That Stayed With Us

There were so many highlights that it is difficult to choose just a few. Near the end of the trail, the song Over the Rainbow starts to play and that moment really stayed with me. I was walking along, surrounded by lights and my family, and it caught me off guard. I just love it all and the emotion felt quite overwhelming.
At one point we followed the Yellow Brick Road and because I was in my red glittery slippers (of course!) I ended up skipping along it. It was such a small thing but it felt genuinely magical…. But then getting my cos playing family to join in too just had us all in fits of giggles.

My niece came dressed as Glinda and when she saw the Glinda character in the gardens, she had this little moment that was so lovely to watch. My son had a similar experience. He kept running ahead, checking to see if Dorothy would appear, and at one point he ran back to me shouting that he had found her. It was such a sweet moment for both of us.
There is also a mirrorball area with lights reflecting over the water. They were playing chart music and without even thinking, my dad, my sister and I started dancing. It sounds silly but it was one of those moments where you suddenly realise how happy you are.

The technology involved in some parts of the trail genuinely surprised me. There was a scene with animals that looked so real I could not work out whether it was holograms, projections or something else. I went back and watched it several times. For something to feel genuinely surprising in 2025 is impressive. I really appreciate how much time and effort goes in to putting together this light trail.

My dad loved seeing how Webbs had transformed the gardens he normally visits in summer. Familiar features like the “Hobbit hut” and the “troll face” had been incorporated into the story in clever ways and he enjoyed seeing how they had reimagined everything for winter. I could also see him thinking hard about how to plan his own Christmas light installations.
What We Wore and Practical Tips for Webbs Enchanted Gardens 2025

You do not need to dress up, but we enjoy it as a family. I was Dorothy, my sister was the Lion , my mum wore witchy accessories and my dad was the Tin Man. The kids were Glinda and Scarecrow. Little touches are more than enough. Even braids with blue ribbons would fit perfectly, or a princess crown but it honestly does not matter what you wear.

What matters is being warm. We wore plenty of layers as well as gloves, hats and scarves and we even brought hot water bottles. We spent around an hour and a half to two hours walking around and never rushed it, so dressing sensibly made a huge difference. If you don’t wrap up warm you will have to rush and potentially miss out on little details
Food and Warm Up Spots

Part through the trail there is a wooden cabin serving hot chocolate and gingerbread. It feels cosy and the green décor fits the theme beautifully. It is a lovely place to stop if you are cold. With seating available surrounded by trees covered in lights it’s a fab place to pause.
At the end of the trail there is a large food area with firepits and street food, with vendors like Cofton Pizza and Yard Birds bringing some awesome local indie food. Most of us had Webbs burgers this evening which were delicious, and Arlo tried the mac and cheese bites which he absolutely loved. We sat inside the marquee with fires and heaters and warm drinks. There are also places to stand by the fire, warm up your hands and toast marshmallows too if you don’t fancy a meal.
How Long It Takes
For us, the trail took around one and a half to two hours because we wanted to enjoy every part of it. You could do it quicker but slowing down makes all the difference. It is not too long, all one way with pathways throughout most of the trail and very strong rubber matting in some areas so it is suitable for families and for older visitors and it felt safe and accessible.

Webbs Enchanted Gardens 2025 is the most immersive and emotional version we have seen. I know I say it every year, I didn’t think they could beat the Peter Pan Neverland, and then along came Alice and Wonderland but oh my gosh The Wizard of Oz theme works beautifully. It’s special because of course recent blockbuster movies have created a whole new generation of fans of the Land of Oz and so it’s an experience which can be shared with all family members.

It is ideal for families, for anyone who loves light trails and for people who enjoy getting into the festive spirit early. We left feeling like Christmas had truly begun…. and then we popped in to the brand new Toy Emporium and for a good mooch around the Christmas displays in the garden centre too.
