Keeping up with fashion trends isn’t easy. You know this already, whether from your own efforts to keep up with the figurative Joneses or from the endless audience-stand-in fish-out-of-water characters in the fashion dramas and comedies that lampoon a very fickle industry indeed; anyone else still feel like Act-1 Andy in The Devil Wears Prada?
The solution, then, is surely to rise above the capriciousness of the fashion trend cycle – and to find items that transcend the present-day. There are debates aplenty to be had about the role of fashion trends in the rise of timeless items, but we’re too busy for those right now; we’re going jewellery shopping, after all…

Timelessness is not the most easily-defined phrase, but we’re finding a throughline – which leads us to this sort-of “cheat” that’ll help you stay timeless forever: buying used. Leaning into the dated nature of out-of-season jewellery makes you an impossible target; an untouchable force of sustainable, heritage-upholding, vintage loving might. Second-hand jewellery is far more accessible thanks to the platforms that can verify their sale, and thanks also to the lower price you pay for items that aren’t fresh from a jewellers’ display.
