Simple Changes That Can Make Your Home Worth More Before Putting it on The Market

Deciding to sell your house is exciting. How long does that excitement last? Five minutes before you realise how much effort is involved. It’s no secret that selling a home and buying a new one is a complex process, especially if there’s a chain involved.

Still, one of the first steps you can take is to see if you can add more value to yours before you sell it.

Below, we’ll give you some small changes you can make that could increase the value of your home.

Minor Interior Remodelling

Buyers will spend most of their time inside the home. When they’re looking at pictures of a house they’re interested in buying, they’re most interested in the interior.

One of the best areas to concentrate on when you want to make small changes in the kitchen and bathroom – these are the rooms people are most interested in. Updating cabinet hardware, new light fixtures, new inside doors, or simply regrouting tiles can make a massive difference to how the home looks.

Don’t think about redecorating or putting effort in there, it’s too personal. Make the small changes that matter the most.

Small Exterior Changes

Yes, people spend most of their time looking at the interior, but the exterior plays a big part in increasing the value of a home.

Small changes can go a long way towards improving the general look of the structure. Like the inside, a new, clean door and tiled entrance make the home look more modern and inviting.

And then the garden. Lawn mowing, hedge trimming, and planting seasonal flowers make your home look tidy and loved. It might not exactly increase the value as such, but it will increase the number of people coming to view your home.

Think About Adding Energy-Saving Features

This one might seem random, but we challenge you to find a homeowner who isn’t interested in energy-saving features.

The current market is obsessed with it, and it can be quite an advantage to potential buyers. Going green will not be lost on prospective buyers who would like to control their energy use and save some money on power.

Ensure all of your insulation is efficient—there’s nothing wrong with putting extra insulation in the attic or some of the walls. Other relatively inexpensive changes – like installing windows or adding a programmable thermostat – would help increase the value of your home.

Even going all the way down to using affordable items like LED bulbs can make a difference.

Putting in the effort to make your home more valuable before you put it on the market is so beneficial for you. The more money you get from your house, the more you have towards a new one. And, as you can see, we’ve not asked you to spend thousands. It’s the small changes that make a massive difference. And, if nothing else, you want to do all you can to reduce the hassle of selling your home and make it one that’s actually easy to sell.
