How to keep the whole family happy on holiday

When you’re travelling as a family, keeping everyone entertained can feel like a bit of a challenge. It’s likely that you’ll be dealing with different personalities and age groups, but you’ll all be staying in the same spot – so you’ll need to make it work somehow.

What’s more, if you’re following a budget, there might be a few extra challenges thrown into the mixtoo. Luckily, it is possible to plan a family getaway that you will all genuinely enjoy. Here’s how to do it.

1. Plan an itinerary

Getting organised is one of the best ways to get your holiday off to a great start.

If you arrive without knowing anything about the local attractions and things to do in the area that you’re staying in, you’ll find that your time away feels jointed or even stressful as you frantically think of things to do once you’re there.

For everybody’s enjoyment and peace of mind, it’s best to get this process started before you even leave for the airport. You could always use an online itinerary template to help you plan it out.

Do your research and check out things like beaches, water parks, shopping facilities and other entertainment venues. Or, if you’re an active family, look for water sports and other activities to get stuck into.

2. Try something new

While it’s tempting to stay within your comfort zone when you’re on holiday, working through a challenge together can be one of the best ways to make new memories and grow stronger as a family unit.

It could be a great idea to learn a new skill or join in with a workshop that you usually might not even think about at home. This could even be somethingspecific to the area that you’re staying in: for example, if you’re staying in a beach town, why not partake in some local water sports?

There are plenty of family-friendly activities do a group and you might be surprised about what you could learn. It’s a brilliant time to be curious!

3. Book a package deal

Finally, if you’d rather not be responsible for all the logistical details, package beach holidays could tick all the right boxes. All you need to do is choose your destination and pick flights that suit your schedule. Transfers are typically included too.

This type of break gives everyone in the group plenty of options for activities and stimulation without forcing everybody to spend too much time together. It’s the perfect option for parents with older teenagers or larger families with multiple children, especially if there are some bigger age gaps too.

From adults-only dance classes to all-day kids’ club with sports, boat trips and more, group activities in this environment can be truly unforgettable. You’ll also meet like-minded people and go home with new skills under your belt.
