Incredible set from @ub40 with Ali Campbell on vocals and a shout out to @adriano_rb_official I had to stop filming and just enjoy living in the moment and this sound was special!

Take me back!!! Today my classroom felt like the Take me back!!! Today my classroom felt like the surface of the sun. I have cancelled practicals for the week as the last thing anyone wants in a heatwave is a curry or pasta bake! Spent the evening inventing up some new lessons but I wish I was floating on a lake on a paddle board with my toes dangling in the water right about now - anything to cool down. Just had a message to say Arlo’s schools closing early this week too….. if you’re lucky enough to not be working this week please stay safe around open water, stay hydrated and in the wise words of Baz Luhrman…. Laser me out /ad Treatment one….. I have never h Laser me out /ad Treatment one….. I have never had laser treatment before so when I had a dm asking me to work with @lasermeoutbham I was a bit nervous. I’m not exactly the kind of person who shares this kind of content but girlies… we all have body hair! You don’t get to nearly forty without having ever shaved, waxed or plucked and trying all sorts of different types of hair removal and bearing the burden of the expense. I “plucked” up the courage (pun intended) to visit the new treatment centre on the Hagley road for a patch test and consultation and ended up going for a three area pick and mix treatment package there and then. Lower legs, under arms and chin/neck. I’ve waited a little while to post because I wanted to see some visible results, give the chance for hair to grow back and see if it actually worked! So firstly the actual experience. Quick, simple, efficient and totally pain free. Consultation was very clear and precise. A range of questions filled in at the desk on a computer and an explanation of post care treatment. A quick change in to a dressing gown and slippers, and on to the bed. I’m the kind of person who grips the armchair getting my eyebrows threaded and usually end up with my eyes watering so this was a pleasant surprise. My therapist was lovely, talking through each stage of the process, explaining things and checking in on me throughout. I was braced for pain but genuinely couldn’t feel a thing, not even any heat or shock. I was in and out within about 45 minutes. Two weeks later my under arms are certainly different, hair has not grown back as I would expected. On my legs I have seen growth come back but it’s patchy and sporadic, the three treatment package should help catch the hair follicles at the different stages and reduce this further. Facial hair also seems to have reduced too. This is hormonal for me so not going to be as dramatic as a result but overall I’m happy and willing to go back and repeat the process again, complete the course and share this with you. Planet Omar /ad Last week we went to see a funny Planet Omar /ad Last week we went to see a funny, heartfelt story about a young Muslim boy growing up in the UK that tackles some big topics through the eyes of a child. Paloma was already familiar with the book and so we were excited to see this be bought to life on stage @therepbirmingham and the cast and crew did a great job. I personally loved how they introduced things like Ramadan, iftar and Eid so naturally, making them feel familiar rather than ‘different’ with conversation between Omar and his best mate Charlie keeping things simple. Then looking around the audience to see so many children see themselves reflected on stage was really special. Every family has its own wonderfully bonkers traditions… we’re far more alike than we are different. We ended up sitting in Centenary square afterwards enjoying the golden hour, listening to a DJ play afrobeats (dancing a little bit ourselves) and watching skaters race around the statues. Just enjoying the evening vibe of living in birmingham and embracing the beauty of living in a multicultural society.
Blink and you’ll miss it! How is it that nine ye Blink and you’ll miss it! How is it that nine years ago I was naming my baby after two iconic dinosaurs and dressing him up in cute costumes!! It finally paid off because he got a free toy @smythstoys yesterday 😜🦕🦖 On Friday he was sat beside me watching TS5 and asked me to say “Andy’s coming” during the closing credits so he could drop to the floor and make everyone laugh - it made me feel so weirdly nostalgic to think that I was his age when the original movie came out. He might have his head stuck in a tablet half the time but I’m clinging on to the toys and imaginary play for as long as I can right now…. I can’t stop Arlo from growing up but I wouldn’t miss it for the world ♥️
