I’m the main character in my own story. I read so I’m the main character in my own story. I read so many blogs about 40 being the new 30 and thought it was nonsense but as I’m approaching my 39th birthday I’ve realised it must be true. For those who know me you’re probably going to think it’s impossible for me to be any more confident…. but I genuinely feel it. It’s not just about being outgoing and loud. It’s about setting my own personal boundaries with my work life balance, and relationships with other people (spending time with the people who matter), knowing that I can do anything I set my mind to, being able to walk in to new places, traditionally male dominated fields and own my own space. Saying no to people without feeling like I have to justify myself. Knowing my own worth and negotiating better pay rates. Not feeling the need to compete with anyone. I’ve been transitioning through my late thirties and had the best few years of my life, and I don’t think it’s a reach to say that I only have myself to thank for this. I’ve worked hard to create the life for myself that I want to live. Have I told you before that my motto is “make it happen” … it’s been the same for twenty years. I wish I could tell little nine year old me (who was devastated when Take That split up because she never thought she would get the chance to see them live) that not only would they be getting back together, but their PR team would be inviting me to see them!! The last summer of my 30’s is going to be a banger - I can feel it!
Aztec Adventure /ad It’s Wednesday and I’ve alr Aztec Adventure /ad It’s Wednesday and I’ve already started a countdown to the summer holidays….& checking the weather app to see when the next glimmer of sunshine will be coming! All the kids wanted to do during the halfterm heatwave is get in to the water, and when I first spoke with @aztec_adventure about a collaboration I stressed how important water safety is to me. Imagine how reassured I was to find out that all water activities are supervised by a qualified team with rescue cover in place for your peace of mind. With the four kids all being different ages, abilities and confidence levels this is super important to me. As well as this, buoyancy aids are included in boat hire and there is optional wetsuit hire available. The lake is spring fed and water quality is checked routinely… you can catch Logan looking intently through the deep water in this video. We opted for a mixture of crafts including the Single/double kayaks as well as stand up paddle boards, and for the duration of our hire we swapped them between us so that we all got to try out everything. A huge shout out to Albert our instructor who was extremely patient and really helpful and friendly with four super excited kids. We got on to the water quickly and got the hang of the paddles within minutes, practicing close to shore before heading out to explore the lake. Steering was a little bit of a challenge at first but one of the team members quickly came across in a boat to give us some tips and stayed close by Paloma until it clicked and then there was no stopping her! I was super impressed to see Lincoln find the confidence to go from lying down to standing up on the paddleboard and then get across the whole lake, he was in his element being followed by the ducklings and swans. The kids were brilliant, cheering each other on, guiding each other on how to hold the paddles and “steer” towards different directions and of working together as a team to conspire against me - I can’t believe I got all the way across the lake standing up only for them to make a splash out of me!

I don’t know if anyone else does this but we always take time at the end of the break to talk about our “best bits” and for Arlo @aztec_adventure_thelostvalley was it…. Although it did take him a while to make up his mind because @aztec_adventure had us trying out all of their different activities this week! It’s no surprises that they have won awards and rank so highly on trip advisor. A great variety of family friendly activities across Worcestershire, with reasonably priced tickets, bundle discounts and such a friendly and helpful team. You might notice that this golf course sits under the high ropes course I shared earlier this week - and booking both attractions will get you a 10% discount! Mini golf is always a family favourite for us - just the right mix of skill and luck needed to mean that everyone can participate and anyone can win! This mini golf course has 18 perfectly maintained holes with great staging and with the Mayan theme during this heatwave we could have been in the tropics! ⛳️ Price: online from £7.50 per person plus booking fee; walk-up £9.50 per person. The same but different I haven’t posted much foo The same but different I haven’t posted much food because I basically eat the same thing every day, chicken in a protein pitta with med veg and Greek style seasoning. Today however Arlo requested fajitas and so I cooked chicken in Mexican seasoning and served with salad and toasted corn - literally frozen sweetcorn from a bag dumped in to a pan so the a tiny bit of oil and some salt. It’s almost like having buttery popcorn on the salad and so delicious. I might share more meals - but it could get very boring very quickly 🤪

AD We’ve had an incredible time today @aztec_adventure - one of the kids bucket list days out and what a way to end a gloriously sunny half term break! If you don’t know, Aztec Adventure is an award winning family attraction at Upton Warren (Junction 5 of the M5) with lots of water activities. Including boat hire, open water swimming and of course the Aztec Aquaglide Water Park. We love this attraction because it’s fully accredited by The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) as a Gold Industry Approved Aqua Park, meaning all equipment meets EN and BSI standards, and RLSS Open Water Lifeguards are always present for your safety. They have two types of sessions: General and Families (kids 6-12yrs with supervising adults). Suitable for ages 6+ / 122cm height / 25m swim ability Tickets are £22.50 for an hour session Wetsuit and buoyancy aid hire included You can nab a multi booking discount of 10% if you also hire kayaks or SU paddle boards (more to come later)!
Peppa Pig Space Adventure /ad We visited the new Peppa Pig Space Adventure /ad We visited the new Peppa Pig Space Adventure at the NEC Birmingham for its “launch” - it’s basically a giant interactive Peppa Pig attraction designed for preschoolers. Think roleplay village, sensory play spaces, spaceship missions, moon landings, mascot photos and lots of places for children to properly explore rather than just stand looking at things. Logan our teenager is not easily pleased and it’s really difficult to find activities which all four kids want to do when you have a big age gap. We have been to @thevalleyevesham before and when I spoke to the kids about working with @aztec_adventure it was a resounding yes from them all. Yesterday was great fun and it’s no surprises that this attraction has been winning awards! We also checked out 18 holes of Aztec themed adventure golf (the course is below the ropes) - playing yesterday in the sunshine was just like being on holiday in the tropics.
